EU institutions and stakeholders are currently deliberating the Food and Feed Safety Omnibus proposal brought forward by the European Commission. This omnibus aims to change key provisions of the EU regulation on pesticides without a prior impact assessment on the consequences of the foreseen modifications.

Health groups have significant concerns that this proposal, as well as some additional changes considered by the co-legislators, would lead to a weakening of key health protective provisions in the current EU pesticides approval and management framework.

The science is clear: Exposure to health-harming pesticides is linked to and increases the risk for a number of health impacts, including reproductive health problems, childhood cancers, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and Parkinson’s disease.

Research consistently shows that pesticides can interfere with hormones and reproductive cells, affecting fertility in several ways.

Reproductive disorders not only have emotional and financial consequences for individuals and families, they also result in an increased burden for health systems through treatment cost, and for national economies.

Join us for a webinar with Rossella Cannarella M.D., Ph.D. and Professor Aldo E. Calogero, both from the University of Catania, Italy, to discuss how pesticides can affect fertility. The event will also explore key concerns around the Food and Feed Safety Simplification omnibus proposal.
