HEAL has over 90 member organisations, including international and Europe-wide organisations, as well as national and local groups.

HEAL represents health professionals, not-for-profit health insurers, doctors, nurses, patient groups, citizens, women’s and youth groups, environmental NGOs, scientists and public health institutes.

Members include medical associations in 20 European countries, organisations that focus on a single condition (such as asthma, allergies, breast cancer) or that represent different groups, as well as prestigious medical institutes.

Alongside our members, HEAL’s second governing body is the Executive Committee, which oversees the implementation of the annual work programme and the priorities of HEAL’s activities.

HEAL is a member of the following expert groups and networks:

HEAL is also a civil society partner of the World Health Summit and is a partner of the French NGO Justice Pesticides since September 2018.

Through HEAL’s involvement in EU funded research projects APHEKOM, ESCAPE, SINPHONIE, ERA-ENVHEALTH, COPHES, CUSSH we carry out two way communication from the science to the policy-makers, and from the policy level to the scientists in order to ensure a better uptake of scientific evidence in policymaking.

Finally, with the help of HEAL’s more than 80 members throughout Europe, many of which represent large network organisations of different specialist areas related to health and the environment, we develop policy positions and create consensus statements. Therefore, these represent a broad constituency and allow greater public interest engagement in discussions in EU institutions and international arena.
