Organisation: Institute of Health and Environment (Slovenia)
Tomaž Gorenc is the founder and director of the Institute for Health and Environment, which he has led since its establishment in 2016. His passion for connecting environmental issues with public health aspects inspired him to pursue doctoral studies, where he examines the interplay of heat stress with socio-economic and health factors. At the national level, Tomaž is a member of the Council for Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection, contributing to policies that promote sustainability. In 2021, he co-founded the Impact Hub Ljubljana, where he currently leads programmes focusing on sustainable development and fostering positive environmental and community impact.
Tomaž actively engages in the Partnership for Environment and Health and the Plan B network of environmental organisations from Slovenia, addressing local environmental and health topics, e.g. air pollution, climate mitigation and adaptation. His commitment to sustainable and health solutions is further demonstrated through his consultancy work related to the ‘Do No Significant Harm’ principle and carbon footprints.
