The EU’s proposed 2040 climate target to reduce domestic emissions by 90% - while allowing up to 3% to be met through international carbon credits – risks undermining health protections. The Health and Environment Alliance calls on member states to strengthen their climate commitments in order to protect health, rather than delay and weaken overdue action.
The European Commission’s proposed criteria for identifying endocrine disrupting chemicals should be amended, as they will not protect the health of European citizens. In a letter to Dutch European Members of Parliament (MEPs), HEAL joined two other organisations – Wemos and Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF) – to call upon them to reject the current criteria.
With the letter, HEAL, Wemos, and WECF express their concerns about the European Commission’s criteria’s flaws.
The letter can be read online here (available in Dutch only).
