The newly released European State of the Climate 2024 annual report (ESOTC), co-published by the European Union’s Copernicus Earth observation program and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), confirms what public health experts have long warned about: the health costs of climate change in Europe are rising fast, and so is the human toll.
The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL), together with the European Federation of Allergy & Airways Diseases Patients´ Association (EFA), the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA), the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) has sent a joint letter to members of the Environment Council of the European Union on the urgency of EU action on air quality in 2020.
