In 2025, HEAL welcomed several new organisations into its international network of over 70 members committed to advancing health through environmental action. These new members bring valuable expertise in public health, environmental justice, and sustainable policy, further strengthening the capacity of the alliance to help face the challenges from biodiversity loss, pollution and climate change. Learn more about their missions and work below.

Youth and Environment Europe (YEE)

YEE is a network of environmental youth non-profit organisations, with 45 members in 23 countries across Europe, working to enhance international cooperation, raise awareness of environmental and climate issues, and support youth participation in decision-making. Their areas of work include environmental and climate justice, biodiversity, ocean conservation, sustainable energy, and environmental policy.

YEE engages young people in environmental policy processes by facilitating their participation in decision-making. Through its Advocacy Working Group liaison officers, YEE ensures youth voices are represented in key environmental negotiations, including those under the United Nations frameworks such as the UNFCCC, CBD, and Aarhus Convention.

La Mutualité Française

Representing over 400 mutuals serving nearly 32 million people, La Mutualité Française is the professional union for French health, insurance, and retirement mutuals. It provides legal and regulatory support, training, and facilitates collaboration between healthcare actors, with the aim of promoting a universal, inclusive, and protective health system. The mutual places strong emphasis on prevention, with over 24,000 preventive initiatives in its roster.

It also supports the “One Health” approach, promoting an integrated view of human, animal, and environmental health and their interconnections. Environmental health is a key priority: the regional unions and local partners of the mutual have for example implemented a programme supporting pregnant women on environmental health matters, in partnership with an association for the prevention of atmospheric pollution. The objective of this programme is to reduce the exposure of women and infants to environmental pollutants—such as endocrine disruptors—and associated health risks, by training health professionals and parents.

CANOPEA

CanopeaCanopea is a Belgian federation of 130 environmental associations in the Walloon Region focused on territorial planning, pollution, agriculture, mobility, energy, and environmental health. By combining critical analysis of public policies with concrete proposals, Canopea works to drive a transition to a fairer, more resilient society.

Its work addresses specific issues such as noise pollution, chemical pollutants like PFAS and pesticides, and air pollution from sources including wood burning and traffic. Through initiatives such as citizen science projects involving households to highlight indoor pesticide exposure, pilot collaborations with medical practices to monitor outdoor air quality and raise patient awareness, and efforts to flag substances of concern in veterinary products, Canopea links policy advocacy with practical, on-the-ground action.

EquiRoots Climate Collective

EquiRoots Climate CollectiveThe EquiRoots Climate Collective supports climate-resilient communities across several countries through inclusive and regenerative approaches that blend climate adaptation, social equity, and transformative action. Their initiatives include ‘Heatwave Café’, which builds community capacity for urban heat mitigation in Central and Eastern Europe, and ‘Her Fashion Story’, which raises awareness of fast fashion’s impacts while promoting circular alternatives such as hemp and women-led regenerative design.
