Today’s publication of the European Commission’s chemicals omnibus confirms serious concerns: if pushed through the proposal will significantly weaken protections in the Cosmetic Products Regulation, allowing the prolonged use of carcinogens and other harmful chemicals in personal care products.
On 9/10 April, the European Parliament’s FEMM committee is set to vote on the opinion to the BUDG INI report on A Revamped Long-term Budget for the Union in a changing world, the EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). HEAL has sent a letter to members of the committee.
For the post-2027 MFF, HEAL urges members of the committee to support
- Investments in better health, not pollution, while promoting equity
- Setting strong conditions for healthy and zero pollution investments
- Swift phase out of EU subsidies for fossil fuels
