HEAL welcomes the call from 250 scientists urging the European Commission to follow scientific recommendations and include provisions to account for the effects of chemical mixtures to better protect health in the upcoming revision of REACH, the EU’s regulation for chemicals.
On 7 May, Members of the European Parliament will be voting on the draft resolution on A revamped long-term budget for the Union in a changing world, for the EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), stating the European Parliament’s (EP) priorities for EU financing for the next budget cycle 2028-2034.
People’s health in the EU is threatened like never before from the triple crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. Urgent action is needed to prevent further suffering, to strengthen health resilience, protect vulnerable groups and help to reduce socio-economic inequalities.
HEAL therefore considers it crucial that the next EU MFF paves the way for reducing the substantial health cost of pollution, as well as for increasing investments to protect people’s health against the triple crisis.
