Organisation: National Federation of Independent Health Insurance Funds (Belgium)
Christian Horemans works as International Affairs Manager at the National Federation of Independent Health Insurance Funds (www.mloz.be), the third biggest group of health insurance funds in Belgium with over 2,1 million members. Christian has a law degree from the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), and he specialized in European Law at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). Within his organization, the follow-up of European proposals and projects is one of his key responsibilities. This includes the follow up of European and international policy on environmental health. Within his organization, Christian presides a Task Force working on the topic of environment and health. Reducing the impact of environmental pollution on our health is one of the 10 priorities of the Memorandum of the Mutualités Libres, published for the elections in Belgium in 2019.
Within AIM (International Association of Mutual Benefit Societies), Christian participates in the European discussions on cross-border healthcare, free trade agreements, digitization of healthcare, access to medicines, impact of environment on health, etc.
Finally, Christian coordinates projects supporting health insurance funds in Benin and Togo, and is member of the Steering Committee of the Program MASMUT which supports African health insurance funds in 8 countries in West and Central Africa.
