Dave Stone is the Deputy Chief Scientist at Natural England, a UK public body advising on and delivering thriving natural environments for people and planet. Dave has worked in the conservation sector for almost three decades at the interface of science, policy and delivery. He also has an academic and practical interest in the natural environment and its influence on human health and well-being, and been researching, writing and lecturing on the topic for over 20 years.
He is a serving member of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) expert advisory group; the UK National Reference Centre for environment and health liaising with the European Environment Agency and has contributed to key documents such as the Marmot reviews on health inequalities.
He also has a passion for ensuring the best available evidence is used to inform decision-making and policy and continues to champion systematic approaches to gathering and synthesising multi-disciplinary evidence.
