Report: Environmental Track Record for the 2010-2012 European Commission - Off Their Game

A joint report by the Green 10, a coalition of Europe’s leading environmental organisations, of which HEAL is a member, gives a mid-term assessment of the European Commission’s environmental track record since 2010.

This report is gives critical appraisal of the Commission’s performance in nine EU policy fields with impacts on the environment, reviewing the track record of 13 Commissioners and Commission President José Manuel Barroso.

Thus far, half-way through its term in office, the European Commission is falling behind in the race to create sustainable prosperity in Europe. Faced with the breakdown of an economic system based on short-term gain, the Commission’s attitude to the environment has continued to favour short-term fixes over long-term solutions for people’s health and the planet.

To support the report an information postcard was also produced.
