HEAL responds to BFR breakthrough on Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals

5 May, 2016 - the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) reacts positively to the outcome of an international expert meeting organised by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR).

“This consensus statement confirms what leading EDC researchers have been saying all along, that potency is irrelevant for identifying which chemicals are hormone disruptors", says HEAL’s Senior Chemical Advisor Lisette van Vliet.

"This should finally shut down what has been a decoy controversy over identification. Now its high time the EU finalise the criteria and start applying the existing laws which forbids endocrine disrupting pesticides and biocides. High time too that the industry stop trying to pull us backwards to a failed system of risk assessment for harmful pesticides.”
