HEAL response to the UN Rio+20 consultation

From 20-22 June 2012, governments, major groups and stakeholders from around the world with gather in Rio de Janeiro for the UN Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development.

The conference will review the progress on achieving sustainable development 20 years after the 1992 Rio Conference and aims to reach concrete agreements among governments on key environmental challenges.

The focus will be on “Green Economy in the Context of Sustainable Development and Poverty Eradication” and the “Institutional Framework for Sustainable Development”.

HEAL has given input into the process for the compilation document highlighting that “health” needs to be central to the Rio+20 process and outcome, and gives 4 concrete ways forward on how to achieve this.
