HEAL signs letter against incineration of plastic waste in oceans
In a recent report on plastic waste “Stemming the Tide”, the Ocean Conservancy recommends incineration of plastic waste in Asia as a solution, an approach which results in the creation of hazardous chemicals which travel over long distances in the air and can be persistent pollutants. HEAL has signed an open letter to critique the promotion of incineration. Read more…

Keep up to date with EDC-Free Europe campaign news!
Seven new language specific sign up to news forms allow individuals to keep up to date with the latest news on what EDC-Free Europe is up to. The mailing lists were launched following a successful EDC-Free take action to answer the 2014 Commission consultation on EDCs. Read more…

EXPPERT Survey: Pesticides that are banned or suspected to be EDCs are found in green salads
The worrying results of the survey by HEAL member Générations Futures shows the need for rapid implementation of the European Regulation on pesticides and of the French National Strategy on EDCs. Read more…

Turkey: Increased engagement for cleaner air ahead of Istanbul G20 Summit
More and more health organisations are joining efforts for cleaner air in Turkey, highlighting the need for healthy energy choices. This engagement is particularly welcome in view of the November G20 summit which will look into progress on ending fossil fuel subsidies. Read more...

First-ever anti-smog bill in Poland signed by President
Good news as the President of Poland Andrzej Duda signs the first ever Polish anti-smog bill, allowing local governments to adopt their own local air quality regulations. Read more…

Phase out Amalgam use in the EU
The EU is the largest user of dental mercury in the world but no policy to phase out amalgam exists so far. Environment and health NGOs commend specialised attention from the EU Commission to amalgam over the past 5 years but believes it is now time for the EU phase out its use in the EU. Read more…

Dental mercury letter to US Secretary of State
HEAL joined with 60 organisations asksing the US Secretary of State to convince the FDA to conform with the Minamata Convention to reduce dental amalgam use in September. Read more...
