Europe’s opportunity to stop hormone disrupting crushed
HEAL is astounded by the recent EU Commission proposal on the criteria for identifying hormone disrupting chemicals as it fails to protect Europeans. Member States and MEPs are urged to block the criteria until and unless they are significantly improved - or vote to reject them. Read more…

International Symposium in French Senate on the impact of early life exposure to toxic chemicals
Earlier this month, HEAL’s Executive Director Genon K. Jensen spoke at an event organised by HEAL member Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF) on stopping chemicals contamination of pregnant women and babies. HEAL participated in a panel focused on tools and policies to prevent prenatal exposure to toxic chemicals, highlighting protective EDC criteria as an immediate public health opportunity. Sixty-ninth World Health Assembly update on chemicals
Last month the World Health Assembly approved a resolution on the health sector’s role in the sound management of chemicals. Delegates reconfirmed their commitment to ensuring chemicals are used and produced in ways that minimise significant adverse effects on human health and the environment by 2020. Read more...

EDC-Free Europe reacts to Commission’s EDC criteria proposal and writes to Environment Ministers
EDC-Free Europe is astounded at and strongly condemns the Commission’s proposal to identify EDCs. The proposal requires such a high amount of evidence that it will be nearly impossible to identify more than a small fraction of substances posing a threat to human health and the environment from EDCs. Success in advocating for health and climate with the Energy Community reform

Turkey: Health evidence contributes to preventing new coal plant
