WECF - Civil society priorities at UN Environment Assembly

Director Sascha Gabizon of Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF) presented as co-facilitator of the UN Women’s Major Group on civil society priorities at the first UN Environment Assembly.

WECF participates together with a delegation of Women’s Major Group members from Nigeria, Kenya, Philippines, Colombia, India, Pacific SIDS, Sweden, and five grass roots women from Uganda, partners in WECF’s project "Empowering Women Benefits All".

The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the economic and political empowerment of women from low-income rural and peri-urban regions in six developing countries (Afghanistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, Tajikistan, Uganda). The programme builds on WECF’s multi-annual approach 2010 - 2015, which aims at contributing to achieving the Millennium Development Goals 1, 3 and 7.
