Générations Futures: Welcomes call on “Zero EDC” Paris

On 30 October, with the municipal election campaign full in swing, former French Minister of Ecology Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet (NKM) – a centre right UMP candidate- launched an initiative to make Paris “Zero EDC” (“Paris 0 PE”). NMK wishes also to promote organic food in canteens and to draw particular attention to air quality issues.

As a former Minister of ecology, NMK already made a proposal to label products containing EDCs. However, at that time, Générations Futures did underline the weakness of this measure.

Endocrine disruptors are now a central Public Health issue and France will soon adopt a National Strategy on endocrine disruptors. Despite positive proposals, there are still issues regarding the principle of excluding endocrine pesticides as stated in the European legislation.

Générations Futures hopes that this initiative will inspire other candidates and that the Government will adopt strong measures to make France an EDC free country.
