Breakfast briefing on lung health in Europe

On 10 December HEAL spoke at a breakfast briefing co-organised by the European Voice and the European Respiratory Society (ERS). On this occasions ERS and the European Lung Foundation (ELF) launched a White Book ‘Lung health in Europe Facts & Figures’.

HEAL Executive Director Genon K. Jensen recently spoke at this briefing giving HEAL’s perspective on lung health in Europe. A mention of a summit on chronic diseases, including respiratory illnesses in April 2014 was picked up by the EU Commissioner for Health Tonio Borg and appeared in a European Voice article on the upcoming proposal of the EU Air Package due out on 18 December.

HEAL members ERS and ELF launched a concise version of the European Lung White Book entitled ‘Lung health in Europe facts and figures’.

This new publication provides an accessible and reliable summary of the state of lung health in Europe and can be used by policymakers, politicians, the media and the public to help promote lung health. It uses the latest data from the WHO and European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and input from experts across Europe. The book covers risk factors, the major diseases, the growth of patient support organisations, and includes a series of policy recommendations to ensure a better future for respiratory health.

You can download a full copy of the book here, or visit each disease page for disease-specific information.
