Foundation for Children from the Copper Basin

The Foundation is a grass roots NGO working for over 20 years to help children whose development is threatened by the intoxication caused mainly by heavy metals, especially lead in south-west Poland.

In 1992, the Foundation set up a Prevention Health Centre to carry out long-term health projects. Tasks include diagnosing the impact of environmental pollution of the health of children and youth; screening and controlling tests for the level of heavy metals in blood; formulating methods and organising the prophylaxis and treatment; assessing the environmental impact on health status; promoting a healthy environment; training parents and carers and; carrying out research and producing publications.
