Weronika Michalak (Piestrzyńska)

Weronika is HEAL’s Health and Energy Programme Manager in Poland. Her main activities are carrying out communications and outreach activities to raise awareness among the public and the media on health impacts of air pollution and Polish coal-fired power plants.

Before joining HEAL, Weronika worked in Coopération Internationale pour le Développement et la Solidarité (CIDSE) as a Climate Consultant on issues of networking, alliance building, political and media advice within the preparations to and during the COP19 Climate Summit in Warsaw.

She provided research work for CEE Bankwatch Network, delivering a report “Analysis of new lignite open-pit mines and coal mines planned in Poland in the 2013-2030 period”.

Weronika finished a Master in Geographical Sciences at the University of Lodz, Poland and completed an ERASMUS semester at Université Lumière Lyon 2 in France.

Interested in psychology, in her free time she enjoys photography, yoga practising and music events.
