On 17 June, the European Commission launched a public stakeholders consultation on nanotechnologies. As more and more products involving nanomaterials are reaching the market, the European Commission aims to increase knowledge and awareness about the potential of nanotechnologies and to continue to ensure an adequate protection of nature, environment and health.
For more information, please read the European Commission press release and HEAL fact sheet on Nanotechnology and Health Risks.
On 2 and 3 October, the 2nd Annual Nanotechnology “Safety for Success” Dialogue Workshop will take place in Brussels. The event is organised by the Directorate General: Health and Consumer Protection of the European Commission and will gather scientists, risk assessors, public authorities, industry and environment and health NGOs.
Together, stakeholders will examine and discuss regulation, international development and communication in order to ensure in the future the identification of appropriate guidelines for a “safe, integrated and responsible development of nanotechnologies”.
