European Conference on Human Biomonitoring, 4-5 November

On 4 and 5 November 2008, the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) will hold a conference on human biomonitoring in Paris. The conference will gather stakeholders in the area of biomonitoring to debate on the following topic: “From biomarkers to human biomonitoring as a policy support tool in environmental health”.

Human biomonitoring programs in the EU, US and Canada will be examined and participants will discuss the added value of human biomonitoring. Discussions will be divided into 5 sessions. HEAL is particularly interested in two of them:
*  The added-value of human biomonitoring activities and good examples of communicating human biomonitoring initiatives and results to the wider public;
*  Evaluation of policy measures and follow-up of public concerns (case studies).

Other sessions will deal with concept, history and general use of human biomonitoring; the contribution of research to the implementation of human biomonitoring programmes and to the interpretation of human biomonitoring information; and the organisation of human biomonitoring at national and European levels.
