In 2008 Climate Action Network Europe (CAN-E) launched their e-Committee Project which aims to raise public awareness of European climate change policies by creating and facilitating a virtual link between European citizens and Members of the European Parliament’s Environment Committee. Through the project a series of six interactive sessions with the ENVI and CLIM Parliamentary Committees will be organized, giving a pre-registered selection of citizens in 10 EU countries the possibility to question members of the Committees using advanced web-conferencing technology.
The project web portal ourclimate.eu provides information on targeted legislative issues and background information on climate change. It links to the most recent scientific facts and reports, provides access to the European legislation and monitoring and advertises updated news and events.
Overall the Project will run for up to 24 months in ten pilot countries: Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The e-Committee project is being run in conjunction with four other partners: CAN, Novitech (SK), AALEP (B), the Association of Accredited Lobbyists to the European, and FORUM (DE).
