On 18 May, the UK Independent journal reported that a new study to be published in July in the Journal of Epidemiology confirms that cell phones may damage the health of the foetus. According to the Independent Environmental Editor, Geoff Lean, the study significantly shows that the use of a handset 3 times a day by pregnant women affects the foetus severely.
The study was carried out by leading researchers on a huge sample of 13,000 children in Denmark. The results imply that children will be 54% more likely to have behavioural issues in case of maternal use of handsets during pregnancy.
The results also show that damages are more important in case of children’s use of handsets before the age of seven as they will be 80% more likely to develop these behavioural issues.
Such an outcome is set to have a considerable impact on the scientific community as one of the leading scientists who undertook it was not convinced of cell phone health damages when he took part to the research.
Indeed, according to the authors, results came as a surprise for them. However it comes in line with the Russian National Committee on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection recommendations made earlier this year on children use of cell phones.
