On 14 April, the chairman of the Russian National Committee on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (RNCNIRP), Professor Yury Grigoriev, issued a declaration exhorting public authorities and governments to take action against mobile phone use by children.

According to Prof. Grigoriev, dangers triggered by electromagnetic fields (EMF) are particularly important for children. EMF causes damage to human health. Children and teenagers are particularly exposed to EMF due to a high use of mobile phone.

Prof. Grigoriev clearly stated that people under 18 should not use mobile phone. EMF directly affect the brain and potential negative effects such as behaviour and thinking troubles should not be neglected.

In its declaration, Pr Grigoriev indicates that, in the near future, EMF could lead to an increase of brain tumours, tumors of acoustical and vestibularnerves (in the age of 25-30 years), Alzheimer’s disease, depressive syndrome, and the other types of degeneration of the nervous structures of the brain (in the age of 50 to 60).
