In spring 2008, Breast Cancer Fund, a US-based organisation, published its yearly report: “State of the evidence 2008: the connection between breast cancer and the environment”. This report is the result of a compilation of a large amount of data on the disease and environmental exposures.

As breast cancer incidence is growing exponentially in the US, “State of the evidence 2008” focuses on the links between breast cancer and environmental exposures. More specifically, it looks at natural and synthetic estrogens; xenoestrogens and other endocrine-disrupting compounds; carcinogenic chemicals and radiation.

It also takes into account the complexity of the disease when providing analysis on breast cancer causation. It draws attention on timing, products “cocktail”, doses and multi-factors effects.
