EPHA Environment Network regularly hosts trainees for its Brussels-based Secretariat. EEN is currently recruiting a Communications Intern for a six-month period to start on 1 October 2006.
Take ownership of the EEN website project “Healthy environments for children” ensuring regular updates, integration of on- and off-line activities, and constant review and enhancement of the site to meet changing needs. Tasks include researching and updating contact details of environment and health contact points and NGOs, as well as actively looking for national information on the status of implementation of the Children’s Environment and Health Action Plan for Europe (CEHAPE).
Research and write articles and compile a monthly electronic newsletter
Develop, manage and regularly update databases
Assist in the organisation of conferences and workshops
Carry out other duties that may reasonably be required in the light of the main purpose of the job.
Graduate - bachelor degree
Some journalism training would be an asset
An open and cooperative personality with a sense of initiative and flexibility in undertaking a workload within tight deadlines
Ability to generate ideas and to think creatively
Excellent written and verbal skills in English
Ability to edit and proofread with strong attention to details
Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
Good working knowledge of standard office software (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook)
Experience in website editing and/or writing on-line articles would be an additional asset
One or more European language other than English would be an additional asset.
Belgian contract of “professional immersion” of EUR 607 per month;
Duration of 6 months;
Local transport costs covered;
Starting date - 1 October 2006.
