EPHA Environment Network (EEN) is an international non-governmental organisation that advocates environmental protection to ensure the health and well-being of European citizens. The organisation’s registered offices are in Brussels where currently, the Secretariat is seeking to recruit a part-time Bookkeeper/Administrator (BA).
EPHA Environment Network offers an inspiring, creative and friendly working environment. The successful candidate will be able to function in a small-office, positive and highly-collaborative team environment. He/She will be personable, energetic, well-organised, independent, and hard-working.
Maintain and manage the organisation’s accounting/bookkeeping system and records as well as the administration of financial procedures and operations;
Perform general bookkeeping and payments; manage the cash flow;
Manage administrative assignments and deadlines that support staff salaries and accounts payable activities;
Coordinate fiscal/administrative procedures with Belgian legal and social security authorities;
General office management : ordering supplies, collecting quotes, improving the filing system, posting correspondence;
Assist in budget preparation, monitoring and the creation of any documentation that may be needed, assuring compliance with proper accounting procedures required for law and funding sources;
Other tasks as assigned in relation to organising seminars and other public events.
B.A. or equivalent required;
A minimum of two years bookkeeping experience, preferably within a non-governmental organisation;
Excellent organisational and communication skills;
Fluent English and French required;
Computer proficiency a must: Excel, Word, etc.;
A strong financial non-profit background will be considered an advantage
Part-time position with a Belgian employee contract;
Flexible hours: 21 hours per week
Salary: 990-1100 EUR (before taxes) depending on experience
Start date: September-October 2006
Candidates may hold other part-time bookkeeping positions, although not with any of EEN’s coalition or network members
