No, cancer does NOT spare children! And those affected are more and more numerous each year. Just as worrying, in Europe, 1 child out of 7 suffers from asthma, 15% couples cannot have children, and the number of congenital malformations is growing. The development of all these diseases seems to be linked mainly to the toxic role of chemical pollutants in our environment. That is what the Paris Appeal initiated by ARTAC last year and supported by CPME underlined.
It is now up to European political decision-makers to prove their determination in slowing down this epidemic of new diseases by reinforcing and strengthening REACH.
A press conference of European Doctors entitled "The Paris Appeal for a strong REACH" is to take place in the European Parliament at 11.00-11.30 on Tuesday 8 November 2005. Speakers include Professor Dominque Belpomme, Association for Research and Treatments Against Cancer (ARTAC) and Dr Louis-Jean Calloc’h, Standing Committee of European Doctors. More information from Marie Vigorie.
Written on 3rd November 2005.
