The WHO European Center for Environment and Health, Bonn Office has coordinated a large Pan-European study (LARES) to evaluate the health impact of housing conditions in eight European cities. Noise is just one of the possible health threats to be found in and around dwellings.
A data analysis on the health effects of residential noise exposure was performed by Dr Maschke and Dr Niemann from the TU Berlin. The analysis is based on data collected through surveys in eight European cities. It was presented at a WHO housing and health technical meeting on the analysis of evidence, and was subject to peer review by other analysis teams of the LARES study and three external reviewers.
